As many opportunities to get the children out in the community and get the community into the school. That is the goal of the next term for us. In Catholic Schools Week we are planning open classrooms for parent visits (grandparents, aunties/uncles too) as we know that the children and staff really value this relationship with all our families.
At this stage ANZAC Day will not include the school in a march as the diocese has informed schools that RSL NSW, NSW DET, CSNSW and AIS have agreeed on a virtual experience. We will have the school "Call the the Fallen" as per the last 3 years. It is our turn for our captains to represent our school by reading the Ode and we will have them lay our wreath in the town remembrance.
Finally, congratulations to Clarence Dougherty on his strong showing at the PSSA in Sydney. ( see below for details)
Best wishes for a Happy Easter and holiday. See you on Monday April 19th for a new term.

RE News
This week we celebrate Holy Week. We have arrived at the end of Lent and we now look to the Easter Triduum; Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday. A time to contemplate the great mystery of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection and what it means for us as individuals and as a community of faith. During Holy Week, we explore the theme ‘holy’ and how it relates to the way we live our lives and our everyday interactions with others.
On Tuesday we celebrated Holy Week as a school community with a liturgy in our hall. Our Stage 3 students lead the liturgy with reverence and respect. (Photos below)
We take this opportunity to wish everyone a safe and happy Easter Holiday. May we radiate the joy of the Good News of Christ’s resurrection to everyone we meet.
Catholic Schools Week 2021
As part of Catholic Schools Week celebrations in Week 2, Term 2, we will be holding a special liturgy in the hall on Thursday 29th April. We would love to recognise and celebrate all of our wonderful families that make up the St James School community. We are creating a slideshow of all families, as part of our liturgy so we would love each family to please email us a family photo to use. Please email your family photo to yamp@lism.catholic.edu.au
Parents, guardians and other family members play a vital role in Catholic education. They instill values and expectations for academic excellence in their children at home. We acknowledge the role of families in Catholic education and celebrate their contributions to the success of our schools on the last day of National Catholic Schools Week, and all year long.

Swimming
Congratulations to Clarence Dougherty who competed in the 8yrs 50m Freestyle yesterday at the NSW PSSA Swimming Championships down in Sydney. He finished 3rd in his heat which qualified him for the final where he ended up in 10th position. A massive effort to finish in the top 10 swimmers out of all schools across NSW. A great example of hard work paying off! Clarry also was a member of the Polding team in the All Age Relay but the team was unfortunately disqualified due to a false start at one of the changeovers.
Cross Country
Just a reminder that our school Cross Country has been moved to next term due to the rain. It will be held 1st week back next term on Tuesday, 20th April.
Winter Sport Trials
Taya Murphy represented Clarence Zone at the Diocesan Netball Carnival in Grafton on Tuesday, competing against students from the Tweed, Richmond and Hastings zones. Well done Tayah on reaching this level.
