Dear Parents and Carers
The end of a term is a wonderful thing when we as a school spend time considering how far the learners have come. Every assesmbly begins with "We are so proud of the learners at Saint James." You must all be sick of hearing this.
Our school has much to be proud of and much work to do.
As I said at the assemblies today "I want our students to go out into the community and hold their own." We do not need to win everything but I want us to be competitive. I am happy to be see others school succeed beyond us but I want us to at least be in the game.
I am very proud of how ïn the game the students at Saint James have been this term and how supportive staff and parents and carers have been of the endeavours.
See you next term for more learning, more service and more fun.
Have a lovely break from lunch boxes and uniforms.

RE News
On the first day of the upcoming term, staff will participate in our annual Foundation Day Professional Learning to deepen our understanding of St. James the Greater and his connection to our school. We’ll also focus on developing our school values and aligning them with our mantras displayed under the big top. We're excited to engage in this agenda and look forward to sharing our progress with the school community.
Here’s some information about James and his significance during his time. We share this with students to engage them in the story of our Patron Saint and the values he embodied.
James and John were fishermen out on their boats when they were first approached by Jesus, who called to them to toss their nets to one side. They had not been able to catch anything, but when they pulled the nets back in, they could barely do so and found the nets completely overflowing. They both immediately followed Jesus. James became known as "James the Greater" either because he was older or taller than the other James!
James' mother was Salome, who left to follow Jesus as well, and was there with other women likely at the cross and the empty tomb Easter morning.
Some scholars believe James and John could have been cousins of Jesus, or related in some way.
James became one of Jesus’ closest Apostles, witnessing each miracle and attending, along with only Peter and John, Jesus’ Transfiguration on the mountain.
A few stories tell of James’ possible quick temper when he and his brother asked Jesus to destroy a town, and Jesus refused. The two also asked Jesus to be able to sit on his right and left in the Kingdom, with Jesus explaining to them that they must be ready to sacrifice in the way he was about to, to be able to do so. Because of these incidents, Jesus called James and his brother "Sons of Thunder".
James was executed after many years of preaching and building churches throughout Israel, the Roman Kingdom, and Spain. He was decapitated by King Herod with a sword, and his remains, because of him being a Christian, were not allowed to be buried there in Jerusalem. Friends and followers secretly took them to Compostela, Spain, where the Cathedral of Santiago still contains them today. He is known as the first Apostle to be killed.

Pyjama Day!
On Tuesday we had a fantastic and very successful Pyjama Day. St James raised $305.65! Congratulations to everyone who donated to St Vincent de Paul. This is such a great achievement for a small school. Again thank you everyone and well done.
This Pyjama Day went so well and I am very grateful. Stage 3 students were so busy running the day, we forgot to get a photo.
