Have you signed the Digital Agreement for your children?
This agreement is designed to ensure that parents and students understand the conditions that apply to using Digital Technology at St James Primary, Yamba, which is part of the Diocese of Lismore Catholic Schools (DLCS). We aim to develop responsible, safe and ethical digital citizens who are proficient in their use of Digital Technologies. In the company of their parents, students are to discuss, acknowledge, and sign this agreement.
These were due on 07/03/2025. Without the agreement in place students will not be able to use digital technologies which are necessary in their learning.
Dear Parents and Carers
Week 10 looks busy!
Although Week 9 was too!
Between retreats, Parent Teacher Conferences, Resilience Australia visits , Tree Audits, postponed Cross Country, Yr 6 receiving their new sports shirts and Kindergarten receiving their carnival shirts, Stage 2 Mass and a class visit as well as attempts at surfing and learning we are all ready for a weekend!
We are lucky to be busy.
We are grateful for the opportunities afforded to us as a school community.
We are please to have been able to discuss the growth of every learner in the school.
At this point of the term, we have 1200 minutes of learning for children and 1500 minutes of learning for staff before we break for Easter. As someone used to say "Teach like your heads on fire ... learning like our life depends on it!" We will continue to do so as the term winds down.
See you on...
Tuesday for the Cross Country,
Anzac Liturgy,
Easter Liturgy,
Awards Assembly.
Surely I will see you somewhere!

Well done to Lenny who competed at the Polding Swimming carnival in Sydney on Wednesday in the 9yr boys 50m Freestyle. He finished 3rd in his heat and 13th overall. Everyone enjoyed watching him on the livestream in the classrooms and cheering him on. Its a great effort to reach this level.

We look forward to hearing some results from the Diocesan Soccer trials that are happening today in Grafton. We have Joe, Jake, Ashton and Sol playing up there and are sure they are representing our school well.

Our school Cross Country carnival has been postponed and will now be held next Tuesday 8th April. It may be a little soft under foot after all the rain but look forward to some sunshine and seeing everyone out there having a run and cheering for their teammates.

Stage 2
Science
In Science, we have been investigating the importance of pollinators. In particular, we have been learning about the native stingless bee which we have here at school. We have looked at the structure of the native bee hive, recognising which parts are the food pots, the brood and the involucrum. To see these parts in real life, we split the native bee hive under a camera for the whole class to see. We even had a few calm bees sit on Mrs Kelly’s hand to show the class, seeing just how small they really are. This also allowed us to see the lifecycle of the native bee seeing the larva and the eggs inside the brood.
Resilient Kids Workshop
On Wednesday of this week, Stage 2 participated in the Resilient Kids workshop. During the program, we had the opportunity to reflect upon our own strengths and we learned how we can be prepared for a natural disaster. Some of the activities we participated in were putting up a tent and packing it up, filtering water to make it drinkable, packing a go bag, learning what we can do to prevent global warming and
Surfing
We were so lucky to get to go surfing for sport again this term, even if it was for only 1 session. This is something Year 3 has been waiting for for a long time. Some of us were very excited and some of us were a bit nervous, but that is ok! We all had fun, whether it was in the water or playing in the sand with our friends.
