Dear Parents and Carers

We have spent a lovely day on country today with our local Elders Aunty Di Randall and Aunty Deidre Randall learning about our local First Nations Aboriginal stories and perspectives on places we all love and want to see protected. Uncle Bill Walker offered a Welcome to Country.  It is some time since we have had such a bus trip but it was great fun. On a side note we spent the whole day not counting children on and off buses; not looking for an unscheduled toilet stop; not worrying about how close to a drop off we were and not worrying that we took up too much of the pathways and stayed together. Positively weird!

Yesterday we shared our Easter learnings with one another and with families who joined us after our assembly. Such a wonderful prayerful experience of our most important time in the liturgical year.

Thank you for an amazing term. See you on the first day back for students 29th of April.

Happy Easter

Ann

Our school Cross Country carnival was held on Tuesday. The weather was finally on our side and a great day was had by all. Congratulations to Turners who were the winning house on the day and to the age champions (listed below). A school team will now be selected to race at the Zone Cross Country carnival at McAuley College in Grafton early next term. Information for those selected will be out on Compass in the near future.

Congratulations to Jake and Ashton who travelled to Newcastle to play in the Polding AFL Carnival on Tuesday. The boys thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to play at this high level and Ashton has now been selected in the Polding team to play at the NSW PSSA AFL carnival later in the year. This is a fantastic achievement and we wish him all the best.

MISSION REPS PROJECT

COLLECTING EARN & RETURN

We’re excited to share that our school will be supporting St James Catholic Church as it celebrates its remarkable 50th year of service to our community. As part of the parish’s fundraising efforts to refurbish the church, we’ll be raising money through our school recycling program. Every bottle and can collected will help us contribute to this special milestone, honouring the church’s legacy and ensuring it remains a welcoming space for generations to come. We thank you for your ongoing support and encourage all families to get involved!

Our Mission Reps will lead our Recycling for St James Church project starting in Term 2. We’re collecting bottles and cans to raise funds for the church’s 50th anniversary refurbishment and help care for the environment at the same time!

Bins will be placed at Kiss and Drop.
You can place items directly in the bins or leave bagged donations beside them.

To keep things flowing, please avoid dropping off during Kiss & Drop times.
Thank you for your support in making a difference!

Long Way Home

The Long Way Home is now adding an exciting new chapter!

Last year's book, 'Stories From the Clarence Valley 2024 - Fly by Night' inspired some  unique and wonderful stories about the sky’s largest mammals -  flying foxes. The book is evolving into an exciting auditory experience where some of the stories take on flight as audio stories.

Selected stories about flying foxes are being transformed and expanded into captivating audio pieces to delight your ears with thanks to 2GF and FM1047. The stories, which will be read by local actors, will be part of a podcast.

We are thrilled to announce that Fionn, Remi and Leah's stories will be included in this project and we cannot wait to hear them on local radio .
