Term 3 Week 8 (03/09/2021)
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY
To all our Dads, Grandads, Pops, and significant role models for the children.
What is On?
Friday 17th September - Last Day of Term 3 for students
Tuesday 5th October- First Day Term 4 for students
PHO UPDATE
Several important points.
AT THIS STAGE:-School (online or on site) will not shut for a Staff Development Day on the last day of term. We have cancelled (or rescheduled) our First Aid until next term on a date to be arranged.
The first day back in Term 4 will not be a Staff Development Day.
All these plans could change if the PHO changes.
IF YOU ARE AT HOME, YOUR FAMILY NEEDS TO BE AT HOME- this is not a school rule, this is a Public Health Order. As a courtesy to the school please do not just "send in children". We are only allowed limited staff on site and this makes managing numbers difficult. Please email on yamp@lism.catholic.edu.au or ring the school for a call back to discuss your needs.
We are rostered into 2 teams and we can not mix. If extra unexpected children arrive, we can not call staff in.
From the Director.
The demands of working from home and students undertaking blended learning can be overwhelming. Unfortunately, the circumstances for which students can attend school remain unchanged. This direction from Catholic Schools NSW to schools is that attendance at school continues to be limited to vulnerable students and those students where all parents/caregivers must attend their place of work and cannot work from home leaving their children unsupervised.
Please understand that should students attend school who do not meet this criteria, the school and the student are then in breach of the NSW Health Stay at Home Order. NSW Police have already visited many schools to assess breaches to the NSW Health Stay at Home Order.
Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you to all the families who continue to support the learners in "doing what you can do."
The daily zoom is to keep the children connected with one another and their teachers. I have been in a few zooms this week in between internet issues.
I particularly enjoyed the unannounced competition to be last to leave the zoom in one stage and the "goodbye, goodbye, goodbye, goodbye, goodbye, goodbye, goodbye, goodbye, goodbye..." which reminds me of the Waltons on the old-school TV show!
The interpretations of life, in the multiple drawings and photos which are so different from school onsite learning are other areas we are really enjoying. How much you are all enjoying being the camera operators for these academy award winning productions is debatable, but we thank you for the laughs and joy you share.
What is the plan going forward?
As always, when we know we will let you know.
Happy Father's Day to all our families. Scroll down to Stage 3 news for some really bad Dad jokes.

Thank you to all the families who joined in.
School Staff - Book Week Photos
Here are the staff efforts. Can I thank all staff for their engagement- this is part of being a teacher but it certainly showed some effort for an offsite but planned weeks ahead contribution to our school events calendar.

This week we have been listening to stories about Fathers and Grandfathers and celebrating the special role they play in our lives. We have been on 2D shape hunts, word hunts and even received a letter from our Stage 3 Buddies. Kindergarten zooms are always so entertaining. Elliott lost a tooth during one zoom! Dolly showed us tricks on her monkey bars! Jackson was inside his amazing buggy vehicle! We also met Cruz’s new baby sister Summer. Our zoom meetings really do help us to feel and stay connected.
Stage 1
Some fantastic work coming through on online learning, well done Stage 1!
Stage 2
Stage 3
Another huge thank you to our wonderful Stage 3 students for all of their effort and hard work this week - we are so proud of you!
In English we each picked a country competing at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics and conducted a research project: we explored the country's location, customs and traditions; the athletes vying for gold; how the country has performed in past Paralympics; and compared sports from the Olympics to how they are played at the Paralympics. We then celebrated our new found knowledge by becoming journalists, either writing a newspaper article or presenting a news report!
For Mathematics we investigated and used the idea of consecutive numbers to explore and discover known or unknown number patterns. We had to use a range of consecutive numbers and add the symbols - & +, and referred back to prior learning from term 1 where we explored integers, which are whole numbers that are positive or negative. Also, in Mathematics we used MathsOnline to revise topics taught this year and we continued our learning about ‘Time’ and began looking at different timetables in our everyday life.
We finish off the week wanting to wish all of our dads, grandads and wonderful male figures in our lives a very Happy Father’s Day. We hope that you have a lovely weekend with your families!
See you next week on the Zooms!
