Dear Parents and Carers
I have spent the last few days away with the cluster principals and while we are all "living the dream", I am proud of the efforts of the students, families and staff to manage the end of year in light of all the changes. At this stage we are broadcasting the End of Year Assembly with only the children on site. We have put a proposal to CSO to have the cohorts separated and parents with us, and we will let you know as soon as we receive a notification.
In other news-
In the past we have had outside agencies come on site offer therapy sessions and private lessons in our spaces. This is becoming very difficult with the employment of a 2 day per week counsellor funded by CSO and the change in the funding mix for children with Additional Needs.
In 2022 we will have a very limited availabilty for these room rentals as we need to create another fulltime teaching intervention space and a space for our counsellor. We no longer have a meeting room at Reception and are just about full in all stages.
I will be approaching the diocese early in 2022 regarding a potential application for some building capital works but as the changes to the diocese and company are still underway I am not sure when we will be able to access such funding and the implications for the school community.
Let's talk bike week.
Can I thank all the families who helped make sure the bikes were on site for the days and thank all families for your patience in getting bikes loaded at the end of the day through Kiss and Drop. Can I also acknowlegde the teachers who supported the days and the exec who supervised each day on top of their usual load.
I am loving our bush track and trails where we are introducing the classes to the spaces in preparation for the "open the gates and let them go" plan. Using the space each week helps to have the children understanding the safety requirements and how to interact with flora and fauna which will make the usage a better and more successful experience for the children. The spaces are lovely to walk and while the area will continue to require maintenance as we go forward I am keen to have " many feet rambling " over the spaces to keep the lantana and weeds regrowth in check.
I have all the final student reports to read this weekend and I will have them ready to go out before the end of week 9.
See you in Kiss and Drop
Ann
RE News
On Wednesday Year 5 students attended the Exuro Retreat Day at school. This day is part of the Student Discipleship Continuum and is an opportunity for students to celebrate their faith at a Diocesan level. Exuro is Latin for ‘on fire’.
This Retreat is a one day opportunity to bring Year 5 students together with like-minded peers, to share and build relationships that strengthen the practice of their Christian faith and to be leaders in building strong Catholic school communities. Year 5 students even had pizza for lunch!
Our students were amazing and participated with enthusiasm and a thirst to increase their faith. We are very proud of our future school leaders! Well done Year 5.

Little J's News - Graduation Day!
We did it! Today we celebrated our last Little J’s Transition program session! We read Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell and we drew, explored and moved like lots of different zoo animals. We held a Little J’s Graduation Ceremony. Make sure you watch the Graduation video (added to Newsletter). Parents should now have a copy of their Best Start scheduled time. We can't wait to see all the boys and girls together again on their first day of school on the 7th February! Happy Holidays from Little J’s team - April Ferguson, Amy Imeson and Kerrie O’Halloran
Early Stage 1
ES1 have completed their Bird Feeders! We used peanut butter, bird seeds, empty milk cartons, bark, beads, pine cones, paper, sticks and paint! It was lots of messy fun and now we are ready to hang them in the trees. We are eagerly making bird observations from our classroom now!
Stage 1
Stage one has been exploring fractured fairy tales, the way that the author portrays the characters to convince us that they are either good or bad. Students have created their own fractured fairy tales. Here are some snippets.
Once upon a time there was three good little wolves, one was a girl, two others were boys. One day they went off to see their grandmother, she wasn’t feeling that well. So they decided to bring some cookies and orange to make her feel better. They promised their mother they will not leave the bright path. When the three little wolves went out into the woods. But something strange was going on then they came across the dark creaky woods were the birds weren’t singing. The three little wolves saw a shadow behind a tree behind them. It jumped out and you know what you saw right or not. They saw the big red and black riding wolf.

Once upon a time there was a girl named Wendy. She was a very nice girl. She woke up to this pirate his name was Captain Hook. Captain Hook wanted Wendy to come to Netherland but Wendy could not come Wendy was sad. Then her brothers yelled ‘lets go’ but Wendy said to Captain Hook ‘how are we meant to get there?’ Captain Hook had a flying pirate ship so they could fly to Netherland, so they went. When they got there Captain Hook told them about Peter Pan. He was a naughty boy

Once upon a time there was a girl her name was Cinderella. She had a awful Mum and a awful Dad. She was a only child but her parents still did not like her. So they spoiled themselves and didn’t even think about Cinderella just themselves. They lived in a mansion but her bedroom was in the basement. She had two guinea pigs. Cinderella had to do all of the work so they just can lay down and relax. One day she was crying into her pillow when she heard something out the window.

Once upon a time there were three humans. A Mummy human, a Daddy human and a baby human. One day Mummy human made porridge. The baby human said ‘my porridge is too hot.’ So they went for a walk. While they were gone a little bear called Goldy bear was lost. Her fur was as gold as the sun. She saw the house and went in.
